Philippines

I’m upset about the image that has been portrayed of my home country here in the U.S. I’ve seen all-year-round the flooded regions, poor images of children, and only residents in the poor areas.

One of my former roommates who’s been employed at the UN for several years and still currently works there said to me the only detail she knows about the Philippines is the terrorist group. I told her most of the terrorist groups reside in the south region province of Mindanao.

Back in the day, I used to live in the very Northern part of the country.  I resided in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines and my mother’s relatives live in Ayala Heights.  Ayala Heights is a gated community. The houses there are quite unique and beautiful.  I’ve seen better houses in Ayala Alabang and Ayala Heights than here in New York.  If you want to visit houses similar to the ones previewed on HGTV, you must visit Ayala Alabang and Ayala Heights.

I’ve traveled to the U.S. when I was 6 years old to reunite with my father and his relatives. My family now lives in Rockland County, New York.  —New City and Pearl River to be exact.

Just to remind everyone every country is different. There is so much to be seen and explore.  There are plenty of high rise buildings in Makati city. Actor, Edward Norton, is actually staying at one of the hotels in Makati and will be on location in Manila to shoot “Bourne Legacy”.  I’m happy the producers have chosen Manila to be their ideal place for the scenes.

There are 7,101 islands in the Philippines. It’s a unique place. Filipinos are known for our humble personality and hospitality.  For anyone who is planning a trip, I recommend for you to explore Albay, Bohol, Boracay, and Palawan.  The scenery from those locations are simply breathtaking. Bottom line—you can’t find those amazing views here in the U.S.
